A Taste of Honey

Loved having my daughter's first birthday here! Chris was such a pleasure to work with. He answered all my questions and covered all the details for the big day. He even accommodated our party with the last minute cancellations. Food menu was difficult to narrow down as everything sounded delicious- ended up with their passed hors de oeuvres with 2 stations and it was a big hit. Staff was very attentive and helpful throughout the party. Highly recommend for any event!

I just wanted to express my thanks and send kudos to your team for a very enjoyable and well organized event on July 1st, 2023, that I hosted at Nansen's Lodge.
The entire process was seamless and professional from start to finish working with Brian and Chris. Reece and George were the perfect team as maitre d' and right man on the day of the event. They both remembered and worked my son's and his fiancee's engagement party in 2022 at Nansen's and it was a comfort to see them both at the baby shower for this same couple 2 years later.
I knew under their watchful eyes everything would run smoothly. The grounds and gazebo were in perfect order, the centerpieces you provided, and even Mother Nature lent a hand by sending lovely weather!
I will be very happy to highly recommend your venue and employees to future clients and would be willing to add my testimonial to your list of references.

Love this company catering service! I recommend it, and would use again in the future.

I went here for a friend's birthday party yesterday and was blown away by the professionalism and competence of this company. This is inarguably one of the best catered affairs I've been in recent memory, and I would highly recommend them for anyone seeking to throw a wedding, birthday celebration, etc., especially for those living in or around Staten Island.

Forced catering and their food tastes horrible . They reheat frozen foods and call themselves caterers. No thank you!

We came here to look at Nansen park as a potential wedding venue and met with a tall gentleman. I don't recall his name but he was super nice! He gave us a tour and very detailed information about events he's held in the past. The location was very rustic but I can imagine it to be a magical place to hold an outdoor wedding in a barn like setting. There is also a banquet hall across from the main office that is used to weddings as well, but we wanted the outdoor space. Unfortunately the dates did not work for us but I totally recommend checking this place out. The staff was very hospitable and accommodating as well.

Attended a wedding at nansen's lodge on Staten Island, the in house caterer is taste of honey. The food was very good , and all of the staff we encountered were friendly and very attentive.

This place is absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend them. I just used this catering service and Nansen lodge for my husband's 40th birthday party. The staff was absolutely amazing and the food and drinks were great. They worked well with my budget and all of my Guests were beyond impressed. Will definitely be using this venue and company for future parties

My mother threw me an absolutely beautiful baby shower here with early 100 people in attendance. She worked day and night to make it a very special day for me and as wonderful as it was, unfortunately, the staff had ruined the day for me. They rushed through the entire party, not even giving me or my mother a chance to eat. The staff took it amongst themselves to bring out all of the food and quickly throw it away if you didn't get to it fast enough, including the cake, which I never even got to see. I had planned for my fiancé to come during the cake so we can take pictures and say a speech but before I knew it they had already cut up the entire cake and put it at the tables including the empty ones, which the guests had already left, and without even asking anyone if they wanted cake or coffee. Some of my guests asked to take their cake and/or food home but they were told they ran out of containers and had to throw it away. The staff did not let my mother or myself know what was going on at any point during the party they just did as the pleased and were nowhere to be found. At 8 months pregnant I wasn't even offered a drink or asked how I was doing not even once and had to make several trips across the entire room just to get a small glass of water since there weren't any glasses or pitchers on the tables. My mother didn't even get a chance to enjoy the party because she was running around taking care of the guests and basically doing the servers jobs since the only time I did see them they were standing against the wall chit chatting with each other. The amount of food that went to waste was absolutely disgraceful especially for the amount of money spent. If you want quality service during a party this is not the place to go.

After all that the staff then asked for a tip at the end in front of guests after we were told everything was included in the full price, which as anyone knows is a very embarrassing situation.

When we called to tell the owner, Evelyn, about these issues the next day she simply said "I'm sorry but I can't go back in time." And when asked why the staff threw away so much food without even speaking to us about it she told us "it's against the law to wrap the food." Which was something I never heard of in my 15 years in the food business. So I left my baby shower hungry and thirsty without any of the pictures I wanted and feeling so angry because these people so nonchalantly ruined all of the hard work my mother put into this day.

Not only will I never have a party here again but I will not attend one either because I do not condone wasting OR re-using food (which is the only other option since they claimed they didn't throw out the food from the 10 guests that couldn't make it, yet their food was set up on the table). Very disappointing.
