HISTORY

Established in 1951.

Ken Wheeler, a marine corp. vet who served in WWII, founded OEC in 1951. Just out of the war, Ken began selling what he knew best, army surplus. His next career change would lead him to work for a company selling ditto machines in Harrisburg, PA. He soon had a strong desire to branch out on his own and saw great opportunity in the ever growing town of S.I., NY.   

His son, Dan, took an interest in the family business and worked closely with Ken, spreading out into office supplies. Eventually Dan took over the company in 1978.  He has carried his fathers vision of OECNY forward and has seen continued success over the years. OECNY is considered one of the leading office furniture providers in NYC.

Dan Wheeler is involved in his community, either sitting as a member or Director on the following boards: The SI Lions Club, SI Economic Development Corporation, A Very Special Place, and The American Parkinson Disease Assoc., Inc.  He also serves as a eucharistic minister in his hometown.
