Joseph Ferdinando Sr. was one of the pioneers of rain water conservation in Staten Island. Joseph used to collect and store rain water to water his crops on the dry days on Clove Road in the 1940’s.

Richmond Plumbing and Heating were the plumbers for Staten Island’s first green building on 444 St Marks, which not only stores rain water for watering plants but also uses it to flush toilets and urinals throughout the whole building. Richmond Plumbing and Heating recycles all unused building materials and used equipment.
