IlluminArt Productions empowers students to utlize the arts as a tool to illuminate critical social issues, creating conversation for positive change.
Program participants gain experience with theater arts in addition to developing communication, teamwork, and leadership skills that extend beyond the time they spend with IlluminArt. Discussion guides are created for audiences and staff of organizations with whom we collaborate to also serve as a resource for information on these pressing topics.
We achieve this through 3 programs:
- Arts Residencies in Schools including play-writing, musical theater, dance, improv comedy, puppetry, mural making and more focusing on individual and artistic growth while enhancing academic performance in conjunction with Common Core Standards. We lead improvisational workshops with all age groups, engaging schools and community groups to develop and write new performance pieces on topics of importance to them, offering inspiration, education and enlightenment.
- Touring Company of professional actors who perform interactive plays about social issues including bullying, relationship abuse, discrimination, stereotypes, excessive drinking, dangers of prescription drugs, grief and loss, immigration and more.
- Arts Empowerment, a substance use prevention program for young people impacted by adverse childhood experiences.
