HOW IT ALL STARTED

  When our Willowbrook State School was closing down due to the unfairness of patients, we had many residents not knowing where to go next. One of the residents ensured optimism to those stating that the next home they live in will not be just their home, but "its going to be a very special place because it's mine."

 That is how our non-profit organization became "A Very Special Place." We have helped over thousands of individuals and families with our programs and services to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Each day we wake up, go to work in hopes to make a positive impact on someone's life. - AVSP
